Davanagere farmer takes 10 women labourers on Goa tour by flight

Davanagere, Mar 2: A farmer from Shiraganahalli village in Harapanahalli taluk of Davanagere district, Vishwanath, has won widespread appreciation for taking 10 women agricultural labourers on a tour to Goa by flight from Shivamogga to Dabolim.

Vishwanath, a farmer from Shiraganahalli in Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district, wanted to give his permanent women labourers an once-in-a-lifetime gift. With this in mind, he arranged for them to experience air travel for the first time, creating a memory they would cherish forever.

After resigning from his job as a police constable in the state intelligence department, Vishwanath took up full-time farming on his 14-acre arecanut plantation. Wanting to keep his laborers happy and fulfill their dreams, he decided to make their wish of flying in an airplane a reality.

Speaking to The New Indian Express, Vishwanath said, “I am delighted to fulfill the dreams of the women labourers working on my farm in Shiraganahalli. They always wished to fly in an airplane, and I made it happen.”

Initially, he had planned to take them to Tirupati for the darshan of Lord Venkateshwara. However, due to the Aero India show, he had to change his plan and decided on Goa instead. “Since the nearest airport is in Shivamogga, we chose to fly to Goa,” he said.

During take-off and landing, the women were initially nervous as it was their first time flying, but they were much more comfortable on the return journey, he shared. “There was no limit to their joy during the trip,” he added.

“In Goa, we visited Calangute and Baga beaches, enjoyed a boat ride on the Mandovi River, and toured Panaji city. Their happiness was evident from their smiles, and seeing them happy made me happy too,” Vishwanath said.

He further stated that he finds greater satisfaction in farming than in his previous job as a police constable. “Since becoming a farmer, I have been leading a healthy, stress-free life,” he shared.
