Mangaluru, Mar 3: The revenue department of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has initiated a special drive to remove illegal flex banners from various parts of the city.
Officials were seen dismantling these unauthorized banners at prominent locations, including KPT, Pumpwell, Nanthoor, and other areas across Mangaluru.
The widespread installation of such banners has become a significant nuisance, obstructing traffic flow and hindering visibility at several traffic circles, making it challenging for drivers and riders to spot oncoming vehicles.

The MCC had been receiving numerous complaints about the erection of such banners at key locations. With the exception of religious banners, the authorities concentrated on removing commercial and congratulatory flex banners.
In some areas, illuminated commercial banners were also installed. The officials have requested the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company (MESCOM) to disconnect the electricity supply to these banners before their removal.
"There should be many more such drives on a continuous basis, with strict action taken against the erection of banners and flexes," an official stated.
