Mangaluru, Mar 3: An FIR has been registered against Mangaluru City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath and several BJP workers in connection with the alleged assault on a Congress worker during the Brahma Kalashotsava ceremony at Sri Krishna Bhajana Mandir in Shaktinagar.
According to the complaint filed by Congress worker Yashavanth Prabhu, the incident took place around 8 pm on March 2 when he, along with Ashalatha and Dayananda Nayak, was waiting to welcome MLC Ivan D'Souza, who was attending the event as a guest.

At that time, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, who had also arrived at the venue, allegedly made a politically motivated remark, questioning the complainant and his associates, saying, "After throwing stones at temples, what work do you have here?"
When Prabhu, Ashalatha, and Dayananda Nayak objected, a group of BJP workers, including Asmith Kottari, Mani, Jayaprakash, and seven to eight others, allegedly conspired to attack the complainant. The complaint by Prabhu states that they physically assaulted him, kicked him, tore his shirt, and Jayaprakash even issued a death threat.
Furthermore, the FIR alleges that MLA Kamath instigated the attackers by instructing them to "break his hands and legs."
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
