Mangaluru, Mar 4: As part of the service learning project, the students and teachers of Grade IV at Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru came together for a Book Drive, driven by a shared passion for spreading knowledge. What started in July as an effort to make learning accessible blossomed this day into a meaningful act of generosity.
Over the past few months, the students enthusiastically collected 175 books, recognizing that stories and knowledge are meant to be shared, not shelved. With compassion at the core of their efforts, they carefully sorted and packed a variety of books - storybooks, reference materials, and dictionaries, to ensure they reached children who needed them most.

On March 4, 2025 around 75 grade IV students personally handed over the books to the underprivileged students of Infant Jesus Higher Primary School, Maryhill, filling not just their library but also their hearts with joy. Tr Alvita warmly welcomed the gathering and spoke on behalf of Mount Carmel Central School, emphasizing the importance of sharing knowledge and fostering a love for reading. Young speakers Vihaan and Maanya shared heartfelt reflections on the joy of giving and the power of books to change lives. One young recipient, Aishakh Azreena, expressed her gratitude, saying, "These books are a treasure. Thank you for thinking of us!"
The Book Drive not only encouraged a love for reading, but also instilled in Mount Carmel students the values of kindness, sharing and social responsibility, a lesson that will stay with them long after the last page is turned.
