Abu Dhabi, Mar 5: The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) hosted an international forum on "Developing National Industry, Protecting Consumer Rights, and Combating Commercial Fraud," focusing on legal frameworks that support economic growth and consumer protection.
The forum emphasized the role of legislation in fostering sustainable industrial development, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s global competitiveness, and enhancing its appeal as an investment hub. Discussions centered on Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2023 on Combating Commercial Fraud and Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection, providing a robust legal framework to regulate markets and curb fraudulent practices.

Over 300 legal experts and industry professionals participated, deliberating on judicial oversight mechanisms, administrative and criminal penalties for violations, and the integration of digital technology and artificial intelligence to monitor counterfeit products. The forum also highlighted the need for stronger international cooperation in tackling commercial fraud.
Key recommendations included stricter sanctions against violators, the establishment of specialized quality control centres, adoption of digital tracking solutions for supply chains, and expanded consumer awareness initiatives to identify counterfeit goods. The event reaffirmed ADJD’s commitment to economic sustainability and safeguarding consumer rights through progressive legal measures.
