Puttur: Retd teacher dies in pickup truck, bike hit-and-run accident

Puttur, Mar 7: A retired teacher lost his life after a pickup truck collided with his two-wheeler at Mukrampady on the Mani-Mysuru National Highway on March 6.

The deceased has been identified as Krishna Bhat (76), a resident of Samp, Kuthkunja village, Panja.

He is survived by his mother, wife, son, and daughter.

The accident occurred when Krishna Bhat was traveling from Panja to Puttur on his bike for some work when a pickup truck hit his vehicle. He fell to the ground due to the impact, while the pickup driver fled the scene along with the vehicle.

Locals rushed the injured man to a hospital in Puttur. However, due to severe head injuries, he was shifted to Mangaluru, where he succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered at Puttur traffic police station.
