Moodbidri: Teacher killed in tragic road accident near Shirthady

Moodbidri, Mar 8: In a tragic road accident near the Shirthady bridge on the Shirthadi-Moodbidri state highway, a teacher lost her life on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Sujaya Bhandari (35), a resident of Nagarakatte, Moodbidri, and a teacher at a private school in Shirthady. The incident occurred when Sujaya was returning home to Nagarakatte, Moodbidri, on her Activa scooter after completing her duties on Friday evening.

A speeding car coming from the opposite direction suddenly collided with her scooter near the Shirthady bridge. The impact was so severe that Sujaya was thrown off the scooter and sustained critical injuries.

She suffered severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, she succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Sujaya's husband works abroad, and the couple has two young children who are studying at a school in Moodbidri.

The Moodbidri police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

    SO sad to hear this .Now two small children have lost their mother..No words to express my sadness and may God give the family enough courage and strenght to overcome this grief.May her soul rest in Peace.Yes vehicles are become a weapon now on roads to innocent people .

    MOODABIDRI ROADS HAVE NO DIVIDERS IN BETWEEN AND MANY HEAVY VEHICLES GO ON THESE HIGHWAYS AT GREAT SPEED. BUILDING DIVIDERS WILL CAUSE DELAY IN TRAFFIC. NEED TO ENLARGE THE ROADS . DOUBLE THEM

    Looks like the car guy was trying to overtake another vehicle and hit the scooter coming in opposite direction. This is usually the case. The driver doesn't have any road sense nor any driving training. Heard most people on the road do not even have a driving license in India. The court should prosecute the car driver and imprison him/her for life. Sadly an innocent soul lost her life. RIP.
