Udupi, Mar 8: Karnataka state Upalokayukta Justice B Veerappa conducted surprise raids at multiple locations in Udupi early in the morning on Saturday March 8. Expressing dissatisfaction over mismanagement, he directed officials to register cases and warned of legal action.

The first inspection took place at the waste disposal unit in Varamballi gram panchayat, Brahmavar, where a recent fire accident had occurred. Justice Veerappa was displeased that the burnt materials had not yet been cleared and instructed the Lokayukta police to file a case regarding the issue.

Following this, he inspected the APMC in Adi Udupi, reviewing the drinking water and sanitation facilities. He was highly dissatisfied with the lack of proper water supply and the unhygienic conditions of the toilets, directing Lokayukta police to register a case over these lapses.

Later, the Upalokayukta visited the dumping yard of the Kaup municipality for further inspection. He expressed strong displeasure over the absence of municipal officials at the site and issued a stern warning about legal action.
