Water woes eased: Filtration plants installed in Chapora, Deulwada

Anjuna, Mar 11: In a major step towards ensuring safe and clean drinking water for residents, two water filtration plants have been installed at Chapora and Deulwada, addressing a long-standing water scarcity issue in the region.

Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo formally inaugurated the advanced microfiltration plants in the presence of panchayat members and Public Works Department (PWD) officials. The filtration units will treat groundwater from borewells before distributing it to households, ensuring a safe and sustainable water supply.

For years, residents of Chapora, Deulwada, and surrounding areas have faced acute water shortages, especially during summer. While borewells were earlier dug as a temporary solution, concerns over water quality necessitated a proper filtration system. A senior PWD official assured that the newly installed units would provide clean and potable water through a rigorous microfiltration process.

Announcing a major upcoming project, MLA Delilah Lobo revealed that a 5.6 MLD water treatment plant will be inaugurated by the end of next month to enhance water supply across Assagao, Anjuna-Vagator, and parts of Siolim-Marna. The plant is expected to be operational by April, bringing much-needed relief to residents battling seasonal water shortages.
