Tumakuru, Mar 15: In a shocking incident, five individuals have been arrested for allegedly pelting stones at the girls' toilet of a government school in Huliyar town, Tumakuru district. The accused also reportedly assaulted a student who confronted them, leaving him injured.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mehboob Sharif, Shamshuddin, Irfan, Mubaraq, Muddassir, Yasin, and Tazim—all residents of Huliyar. Police are on the lookout for two more suspects linked to the attack.

According to sources, the incident unfolded when Yashwanth, a student of the school, noticed a group of men throwing stones at the girls’ toilet. When he intervened and warned them to stop, the enraged miscreants chased him onto the school premises and assaulted him with sticks.

Teachers and staff rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the injured student while the attackers fled. Yashwanth sustained injuries to his back and head and was admitted to a government hospital in Chikkanayakanahalli.

The school administration has filed a formal complaint at the Huliyar police station, prompting swift action from law enforcement. Investigations are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.

Meanwhile, the incident has sparked political reactions, with opposition leaders accusing the ruling government of failing to maintain law and order. While police continue their probe, the case has intensified debates on safety in educational institutions and the need for stricter action against miscreants.
