Crime wave in Bihar sparks outrage as two ASIs killed, RJD slams government

New Delhi, Mar 16: Bihar has witnessed a surge in violent crime over the past four days, with two Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) brutally attacked while on duty, both succumbing to their injuries. Amid reports of police personnel being assaulted during Holi celebrations, concerns over law and order have intensified, prompting strong criticism from the opposition.

RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari accused the NDA-led Bihar government of failing to control rising crime, alleging that criminals are operating with impunity. “This so-called double-engine government has turned Bihar into a haven for criminals. Even the police are unsafe, leaving the public defenseless. What we are witnessing is ‘Gundaraj’ and ‘Aparadhi Raj,’” he told.

The latest flashpoint was the murder of ASI Santosh Kumar in Munger’s Nandalalpura area. Kumar had arrived with his team to resolve a family dispute when a violent mob attacked him. An unidentified assailant struck him on the head with a sharp weapon, leading to fatal injuries. Despite being rushed to Patna for treatment, he could not be saved. The Mufassil police station head, Chandan Kumar, confirmed his death.

This incident follows a pattern of escalating attacks on law enforcement across Bihar, with reports of police personnel being targeted during Holi adding to the crisis.

RJD leaders have demanded urgent action from the state government, calling for stricter measures to restore order and ensure the safety of both civilians and police officers.
