A senior puisne judge, he ranks seventh in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges, including Chief Justices. Before his elevation, he practiced in the Calcutta High Court, specializing in civil matters.
The Collegium, in its statement, praised Justice Tandon’s judicial competence, integrity, and vast experience in dispensing justice, stating that he is “fit and suitable in all respects” for the position.
With his appointment now formalized, Justice Tandon is set to take charge as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court in the coming days.
