Bengaluru, Mar 22: The Karnataka BJP has strongly criticized the anti-delimitation Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting held in Chennai, calling it a politically motivated move to divert attention from corruption and administrative shortcomings.
BJP Karnataka president B Y Vijayendra dismissed the gathering as an attempt to mislead the public under the guise of language advocacy. "This meeting is nothing but a cover-up for their failures. Their real motive is not linguistic rights but political gains," he stated.

Vijayendra further highlighted that union home minister Amit Shah has repeatedly assured that no language will be imposed over another. "Despite these assurances, certain groups continue to spread baseless conspiracies. The truth will soon come to light as discussions with state representatives in their respective languages are already in place," he added.
Taking a dig at Karnataka deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, Vijayendra questioned his participation in the Chennai meet while Kannada organizations protest in Karnataka for the speedy implementation of the Mekedatu project. "Ironically, Shivakumar aligns himself with Tamil Nadu CM M K Stalin and his party, who are the very ones obstructing the Mekedatu project, which is crucial for Karnataka’s drinking water needs," he said.
Meanwhile, ahead of the JAC meeting, Shivakumar reaffirmed that all states opposing the proposed delimitation by the Union government would work together to prevent any reduction in parliamentary seats.
The issue also found mention at the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) in Bengaluru, where the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) raised concerns over growing narratives that deepen the North-South divide. Mukunda C R, RSS joint general secretary, emphasized that such divides threaten national unity, stating, "Our volunteers are actively working in southern states to promote harmony and counter divisive narratives surrounding delimitation and language issues."
