Panaji, Mar 23: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday called upon Biharis residing in the state to adopt and adjust to the peaceful and inclusive Goan culture. He made the statement while addressing a ‘Bihar Day’ event organized by the BJP’s state unit in the capital.

Marking the first-ever ‘Bihar Day’ celebration by the saffron party in Goa, Sawant subtly underscored its political significance, hinting that Bihar’s progress hinges on the return of a BJP government in the upcoming state elections.

"The BJP believes in ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat.’ Many Biharis live in Goa for work. They should understand Goan culture, which is peace-loving, welcoming, and respects guests as God," Sawant told the gathering at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall.

Highlighting the presence of second-generation Bihari residents who have seamlessly integrated into Goan society, the CM urged new migrants to follow suit. "Some people with Bihar roots have adopted Goan culture. Others coming here for work should do the same," he added.

Sawant also appealed to the Bihari community to spread awareness among newcomers about Goa’s cultural ethos. "No one would like it if a crime occurs and it is attributed to someone from Bihar. So guide your brethren about Goa’s way of life," he said.

Union MoS for defence Sanjay Sheth, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanawade, and BJP state president Damu Naik were also present at the event.

Acknowledging Bihar’s rich heritage as the land of Bhagwan Buddha, Bhagwan Mahavir, and Madhubani art, Sawant lauded its socio-cultural contributions while emphasizing that Goa is now the workplace for many Biharis, who play a crucial role in maintaining the state’s beauty and cleanliness.
