Goa private bus operators to protest govt’s apathy on March 26

Panaji, Mar 24: Private bus operators in Goa have announced a one-day protest against the government’s failure to address their long-pending demands. The demonstration will take place outside the Transport Department’s office on March 26, coinciding with the state budget presentation.

Speaking to reporters at Kadamba Plateau on Sunday, All Goa Private Bus Owners Association general secretary Sudip Tamankar expressed disappointment over the government’s inaction. He stated that despite repeated requests for a fuel subsidy, insurance subsidy, and other relief measures, their demands remain unfulfilled.

“We were hopeful that the government would allocate funds in the budget, but after meeting CM Pramod Sawant, it became clear that our demands would not be met,” Tamankar said.

Frustrated by the lack of support, private bus owners convened a meeting and resolved to stage the protest in Panaji.

“It seems the government is determined to crush our business by ignoring our genuine demands,” Tamankar alleged, while expressing hope that the authorities would reconsider and provide a viable solution.
