Kundapur, Mar 27: The Kota police have arrested a man for allegedly breaking into a house and stealing a gold chain from a 92-year-old woman while her family was away at a temple.
The accused, identified as Praveen Kumar Shetty (38), a resident of Manoor, was taken into custody, and the stolen 25-gram gold chain was recovered from him.
The incident took place on the night of March 20 when the elderly woman, residing in Manoor Koikoor, was alone at home. Her family, including businessman Sridhar from Dharwad, had gone to attend a temple event near their house when the accused broke in and stole the chain.

During the investigation, the police discovered that Praveen Kumar Shetty, who has a criminal background, had come to the area for a temple fair. Upon further inquiry, including an analysis of mobile network data and other evidence, the crime was traced back to him.
Police also revealed that the accused, originally from Manoor, had lived in Hyderabad for about ten years, where multiple criminal cases had been registered against him.
