New Delhi, Mar 27: In a major crackdown on visa fraud, the US embassy in India has cancelled around 2,000 visa appointments that were fraudulently booked using bot accounts.
Announcing the move on Wednesday, the embassy emphasized its zero-tolerance policy against misuse of the scheduling system. It has also suspended the accounts linked to these fraudulent bookings.
“Consular Team India is cancelling about 2,000 visa appointments made by bots. We have zero tolerance for agents and fixers that violate our scheduling policies. Effective immediately, we are cancelling these appointments and suspending the associated accounts’ scheduling privileges,” the Embassy said in a post on X.

This action comes after the Embassy filed a formal complaint with Delhi police, urging action against individuals accused of submitting fraudulent documents for US visas between May and August 2024.
