Beltangady, Mar 28: The ongoing road development work from Punjalkatte to Charmadi is set to be completed before the monsoon season, deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan has confirmed.
During a surprise visit to the taluk office, the DC held a meeting with the tahsildar and other officials to discuss pending land record issues. He later received public grievances and addressed the media, stating that once the current roadwork is completed, development of the Charmadi Ghat stretch will commence.

Beltangady, the largest taluk in the district, has 1,680 pending land-related files and 7,090 applications related to government survey numbers. Officials have been directed to complete all pending platting work within a month. Across the district, a total of 30,529 applications are pending, of which 7,090 belong to Beltangady alone. The process will be carried out using the One to Five (1 to 5) form method.
So far, 9,315 One to Five form requests have been completed and submitted to the survey department. The remaining applications are to be processed within the next month. Previously, platting was done only for those who had submitted applications for approved plots. However, the department has now taken the initiative to carry out platting proactively.
The DC clarified that the revenue department in Beltangady does not face any major issues related to server performance or staff shortages. While there were challenges during the recent village accountant (VA) strike, the situation has now improved, and more files are being processed efficiently. If panchayat offices face server-related issues, officials have been asked to bring them to the administration's attention.
Preparations for summer water shortage
The district administration has instructed all taluk offices to hold meetings and implement measures to prevent water shortages during the summer. Additionally, special attention is being given to areas affected by monsoon damage, ensuring necessary infrastructure is provided.
DC Mullai Muhilan assured that the government is committed to addressing these issues promptly to improve public services in the region.
