Yellow alert issued as rain likely in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi on Mar 31, Apr 1

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 29: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for coastal Karnataka, predicting rainfall in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on March 31 and April 1. Thunderstorms are also expected in some areas during this period.

On Friday, several parts of the coast experienced cloudy weather during the day. By night, moderate rainfall was recorded in the foothills of the Western Ghats, including Mundaje, Kadirudyavara, Madanthyar, Beltangady, Dharmasthala, Gurippalla, Bhandaru, Kanyadi, and various locations in Bantwal taluk.

Dakshina Kannada witnessed overcast skies on Friday morning, but the temperature soared later in the day. Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 33°C, which was 1.2°C below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 25.1°C, marking a 0.4°C increase from the usual levels.
