Tensions soar as Iran readies missiles after Trump’s threats

Tehran, Mar 31: Hours after US President Donald Trump warned Iran of bombings and secondary tariffs, Iran’s armed forces have reportedly placed missiles on high alert in underground facilities across the country.

In a post on X, Iran’s military stated: "Information received by the Tehran Times indicates that Iran's missiles are loaded onto launchers in all underground missile cities and are ready for launch. Opening the Pandora's box will come at a heavy cost for the US government and its allies."

According to reports, a significant number of these launch-ready missiles are stationed in fortified underground bases, signaling Iran’s preparedness for a potential confrontation.
On Sunday, Trump issued a stark warning, threatening Iran with bombings if Tehran did not reach a nuclear agreement with Washington. Speaking to NBC News, he said, "If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing... bombing the likes of which they have never seen before."

Additionally, he hinted at imposing secondary tariffs on Iran, similar to those previously enforced four years ago. These tariffs could also extend to buyers of Iranian and Russian goods.

In response, Iran sent a letter through Oman, reiterating its stance against direct negotiations under US pressure. Iran’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed that Tehran would not engage in talks while facing military threats and economic sanctions.

Trump, during his first term (2017-21), withdrew the US from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which had placed restrictions on Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. His administration reimposed stringent sanctions, prompting Tehran to accelerate uranium enrichment beyond the agreed limits.

As tensions reach a boiling point, Iran remains defiant, rejecting Trump’s ultimatum and reinforcing its military readiness.
