Udupi kidnapping case: Woman to appear before high court on Apr 4

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi

Udupi, Mar 31: A 19-year-old woman, Jeena Meril, who was allegedly abducted by Mohammed Akram, is set to appear before the high court on April 4 in connection with a habeas corpus petition filed by her father, Godwin, a resident of Uddinahithlu, Kodavoor village. This information was disclosed by Udupi superintendent of police Dr Arun K.

It may be recalled, a case of abduction was registered at the Udupi town police station on March 20, following a complaint from Jeena’s parents. During the investigation, it was discovered that Jeena and Mohammed Akram had submitted an application for marriage at the Udupi sub-registrar's office on March 19. Additionally, both individuals had voluntarily left together and had written a letter requesting police protection, according to the SP.

On March 28, Jeena’s parents approached the High Court, filing a habeas corpus petition seeking her whereabouts. During the proceedings, Mohammed Akram and the legal representatives of the young woman assured the court that she would appear for a hearing on April 4. However, SP Dr Arun K clarified that the high court had not issued any specific directives to the police regarding the matter.

On the same day, March 28, Jeena’s mother, Merus Pushpalatha, held a press conference in Udupi, alleging that her daughter had been abducted by Mohammed Akram, who she claimed was already married. She further asserted that this was a case of ‘love jihad’ and expressed her disappointment over the police’s inaction despite her complaints. She also mentioned that they had taken the legal route by filing a habeas corpus petition in the high court.

Girl is 19 years old...her parents says she was in relationship with Mohammed Akram for last 5 years....if true its a POCSO case...what parents were doing till March 20th 2025 ???.....looks like truth is in between....anyway lets see what girl says to High Court....I think High Court should hear the girl alone sending Mohammed and her parents out and ask her 'real story' and then decide as per law....Tak...Takk...

it seems there is talk in town that in a love jehad case in bydoor kundapura the poor girl ended her life and her mother too followed her. No children have the right to play with the honour of their parents. They must realise they are cutting off all their support system by trusting strangers over own.

If it is not love jehad than what. Police must strictly investigate and solve the issue. Poor parents how they feel it is beyond imagination.
