Mangaluru, Apr 5: District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao directed officials to ensure there is no scarcity of drinking water during the summer. “Currently, there is enough water in the dams, and we are also witnessing light rainfall in some areas,” he noted.
A meeting was held at the DC office on Saturday, April 5. The minister emphasized the need for proper water management to avoid any kind of shortage over the next two months. “We must not take risks assuming there is enough water. Water supply to industries should be regulated at the earliest,” he added.

Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan assured that there would be no shortage of water, as there is a sufficient water reserve. He informed that the water levels at Thumbay and AMR dams are adequate for the next 35 to 40 days. If water is supplied from three dams within MCC limits, it will be sufficient for up to three months.
When the minister inquired about the release of drainage water into the Netravati river, the Bantwal taluk panchayat CEO responded that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared regarding the issue.
The district in-charge minister also urged officials to be well-prepared for the upcoming monsoon and to take precautionary measures in flood-prone areas in advance.
