Mangaluru, Apr 8: Even after six months, the owner of a car worth Rs 30 lac has not received the registration certificate (RC) and has been left exhausted running between the post office, the RTO, and the car dealer.
Lokesh, a resident of Kodikal, who spent several lacs of rupees to purchase the car, is now running around for the RC. The car, bearing registration number KA 19 MP 9063, was registered on October 1, 2024. Permission was granted on October 7, the HSRP (High Security Registration Plate) status was completed by October 8, and the RC smart card was generated on October 19. Online status shows that the document was dispatched from Mangaluru RTO on October 21.

However, when Lokesh visited the Toyota dealership in Mangaluru where he purchased the car, he was told that all work from their end was completed and that the matter was now with the RTO. When he approached the RTO, he was informed that the RC had been dispatched and that he should inquire at the post office. But at the post office, officials said no smart card had arrived. Even attempts to track the dispatch online using the given dispatch number have not yielded any results.
Despite the rule that an RC must be delivered within 90 days, over six and a half months have passed, leaving Lokesh disheartened and forced to drive the expensive vehicle without proper documentation. Ironically, Lokesh’s friends, who purchased vehicles around the same time, received their RCs without any issue, making Lokesh’s situation even more frustrating.
