Panaji, Apr 8: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form its government in the southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu within the next ten years.

Speaking at a function held in Panaji to mark the party’s foundation day, Sawant paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister late Atal Behari Vajpayee, crediting him for laying the foundation of India’s emergence as a global power.

The event titled “Atal Smruti” saw the presence of veteran BJP leaders, who were felicitated for their long-standing contributions to the party in Goa.

“It was during Atalji’s regime that India showed the world its strength by conducting nuclear tests. He proved that India had the capability to stand tall as a superpower,” Sawant said.

Remembering Vajpayee’s visionary leadership, Sawant said the late leader was instrumental in ushering in the mobile phone revolution in India. “He ensured mobile connectivity reached every corner of the country, bringing a digital transformation that has grown ever since,” he added.

He recalled how Vajpayee, despite losing power at the Centre by a single vote, had predicted the BJP’s return with a full majority in the future. “He said that the party would rule the country for the next 25 years a prophecy that is becoming reality,” Sawant said.

He further remarked that while BJP may not currently be in power in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the party’s growing influence and grassroots work will lead to forming governments in these states within the next decade.

“The efforts initiated by leaders like Atalji and L K Advani are now bearing fruit. The current party cadre fondly remembers those foundational days with great respect,” the Chief Minister stated.
