Ambala, Apr 9: In a significant breakthrough, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Ambala police has arrested a man allegedly involved in preparing and circulating fake visas. The accused, identified as Ajay Kumar, a resident of Punjab, was apprehended during a raid in Gurugram.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajat Gulia, the arrest was made following a complaint lodged in January this year. The complainant had alleged that he was duped of over Rs 14 lac under the pretext of securing a work visa abroad for his son. During the course of the investigation, a larger fake visa operation came to light, leading the police to register a case against five individuals.

“One arrest was made in March, and further investigation led us to Gurugram, where Ajay Kumar was apprehended. The court has remanded him to two-day police custody for further interrogation,” said DSP Gulia.

During the raid, police recovered a range of materials believed to be used in the production of forged documents. These included two mobile phones, holograms, cutting tools, three passports, a PAN card, a laptop, cheque book, passport covers, plastic sheets, and other related equipment.

Authorities suspect that more people are connected to the racket, and further arrests are likely as the probe continues.

The arrest has exposed the scale and sophistication of fake visa operations and underscores the need for heightened vigilance among those seeking overseas employment.
