Los Angeles, Apr 12: Grammy Award-winning singer Meghan Trainor has revealed that she and her husband Daryl Sabara have turned to prescription medication as part of their weight loss journey, saying she has “no regrets” about the decision.
Speaking on the ‘Workin’ On It’ podcast, the ‘All About That Bass’ hitmaker said that the couple was encouraged by friends and even doctors to explore medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic.
“We heard more and more of our friends and even our doctors were on Mounjaro and Ozempic,” Meghan said, adding that they were drawn to the treatment due to its “less side effects” compared to other weight-loss drugs, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
Meghan, who tied the knot with actor Daryl Sabara in 2018, quipped, “Daryl and I both do everything together.” However, she made it clear that medication alone was not enough, and emphasized the importance of consistent workouts and healthy eating habits.
“We were like, ‘We have to make sure we don’t lose muscle that we worked so hard gaining all those years.’ We stay in the gym, we work out, we eat right, and we just noticed that we were less hungry,” she shared.
The singer’s transformation caught public attention during the Billboard Women in Music event held in March, where she was honored as a Hitmaker. While grateful for the recognition, Meghan expressed disappointment over the focus on her physical appearance rather than her musical achievements.
“Feeling so honored to be recognized by @billboard Women in Music as a Hitmaker – what a dream!” she wrote on Instagram. “But it’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here. This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry.”
Reflecting on her transformation post-pregnancy, Meghan said she embraced professional guidance and medical support to become the “healthiest, strongest” version of herself for her children and herself.
“No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago... I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy,” she wrote.
“Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first. Let’s keep shifting the convo to what REALLY matters,” she concluded.
