Kasargod, Apr 12: The mysterious death of auto driver Muhammad Sharif, a resident of Mulky, whose body was found in a deserted well in Kunjathur Padu near Manjeshwar, is now suspected to be a case of murder, according to preliminary post-mortem reports.
Sources from the police department revealed that the report confirmed grievous injuries on Sharif's hands, head, and neck, likely caused by sharp weapons. The fatal injury on the neck has been identified as the primary cause of death. Despite the body being submerged in water for several hours, no water was found in the lungs, strengthening suspicions that he may have been murdered before being dumped into the well.

The post-mortem examination was conducted at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Investigations are currently underway under the leadership of Manjeshwar circle inspector Anoop Kumar.
Sharif’s body was discovered on Thursday night in an abandoned well located in a secluded area near Manjeshwar. Though the incident appeared suspicious, it came to light after locals noticed a parked auto-rickshaw nearby and informed the police. A subsequent search led to the recovery of the body from the well. The body was retrieved and a spot inspection was conducted on Friday morning.
According to reports, on Wednesday night at around 10 pm, three individuals had hired Sharif's auto-rickshaw. He had been missing since then. The police are focusing their investigation on these three individuals.
