Fake Facebook page dupes students in University of Mumbai admission scam

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 13: The University of Mumbai has filed a cybercrime complaint after uncovering a fake Facebook page falsely promoting online admissions in its name.

The bogus page, which misled students into submitting personal information like names, phone numbers, and email IDs, redirected them to a suspicious third-party site — markmonitor.com/online-com. Authorities fear the data could be misused for identity theft or financial fraud.

In a statement, the university confirmed that all admissions are strictly carried out through official channels and warned students to steer clear of such fraudulent platforms.
