Jammu, Apr 13: A massive anti-terror operation in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir concluded with the elimination of three terrorists and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to security forces, the joint operation in Chattroo Naidgam led to the seizure of an M4 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, 11 magazines, 65 M4 bullets, and 56 AK-47 bullets. Additional supplies such as caps, medical kits, first-aid materials, and socks were also recovered from the slain terrorists.
The high-intensity operation was launched based on intelligence inputs in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar. One terrorist was neutralized on the second day of the operation, and two more — including Saifullah, a top commander of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) — were gunned down on the third day.

This comes in the wake of a broader crackdown on cross-border terrorism. On March 23, five terrorists were spotted in Sanyal village, just 4 km from the International Border in Kathua district. A police response team engaged the infiltrators in a fierce gun battle after they fled to Safiyan Jakhole village. Two terrorists were killed in that encounter, while four police personnel lost their lives in the line of duty. A Deputy SP (Border) was among the three officers injured.
In the aftermath, security forces launched extensive ‘seek and destroy’ operations across higher reaches of Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, and Kishtwar. While the Udhampur operation remains active, the success in Kishtwar has been a major blow to terror networks operating in the region.
In a related development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar on April 8. The meeting was attended by J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, Intelligence Bureau Director, Army chiefs, paramilitary commanders, J&K DGP, and senior intelligence officials.
During the meeting, Shah issued firm directives to intensify counter-terrorism efforts across the Union Territory, stressing a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism — particularly in the Jammu division.
Security forces continue to maintain a high alert across sensitive regions, determined to eliminate remaining threats and prevent further infiltration attempts.
