Renowned Kannada actor Bank Janardhan no more

Bengaluru, Apr 14: The Kannada film fraternity is mourning the loss of celebrated actor and comedian Bank Janardhan, who passed away in the early hours of Monday at the age of 76.

He breathed his last at around 2.30 am at Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, where he had been admitted due to age-related health issues.

The late actor’s mortal remains will be placed at his residence in Sultanpalya, Bengaluru, for public viewing and final respects today from 10 am onwards.

Born in Holalkere, Chitradurga district in 1948, Bank Janardhan made his silver screen debut in 1985 with Pitamaha. Over the decades, he became a beloved figure in Kannada cinema, having acted in more than 500 films. Some of his notable works include Bettada Thaayi, Police Hendathi, Shh!, Tarle Nanmaga, Belliappa Bangarappa, Jee Boomba, Ganesh Subrahmanya, and Kaurava.

Although he gradually distanced himself from films after 2016, he remained connected to the industry with roles in Mata (2022) and Undenama (2023).

Bank Janardhan was also a popular name in television, having charmed audiences in serials like Papa Pandu, Jokali, Robo Family, and Mangala.
