Poonch, Apr 15: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three accused individuals, including a Pakistani handler, in connection with a terror conspiracy case. This case stems from the seizure of arms and ammunition in the Poonch region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The accused Abdul Aziz, Munawar Hussain, and Nazir Hussain (also known by several aliases including Nazir Ahmed, Ali Khan, and Shaheen) have been charged under provisions related to criminal conspiracy, specifically Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They are also booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), which deals with terror financing, attempting to carry out terrorist activities, and related offenses.
Nazir Hussain, an active operative in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), is linked to the banned terrorist organization Jammu and Kashmir Gazanavi Force (JKGF). According to NIA investigations, he played a pivotal role in recruiting and motivating local youth to engage in violent activities. Nazir used inflammatory audio clips and video messages to incite youths to participate in Jihad and wage war against India.
The chargesheet also states that Nazir Hussain provided arms, ammunition, and grenades to these recruits as part of a wider conspiracy by various banned terror organizations to destabilize the region through violence and terror.
The case was initially registered by NIA following an October 2024 police operation in Surankote, Poonch, where Abdul Aziz was arrested with two grenades in his possession. His interrogation led to the arrest of Munawar Hussain, from whom a pistol, magazine, and ammunition were seized. Further investigations revealed that both were in contact with Nazir Hussain, who was orchestrating the conspiracy from across the border.
The NIA's ongoing investigation highlights the coordinated efforts of terror groups to escalate violence in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting both local residents and security forces.
