Mumbai on alert after bomb threat hoax; drunk serial caller arrested in Borivali

Daijiworld Media Network- Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 16: Tension gripped Mumbai on Tuesday after police received a chilling phone call warning of bomb explosions across the city. The caller claimed to be associated with the notorious D-Company and threatened mass violence. However, a swift investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch, in coordination with the Borivali Police, revealed the call to be a hoax made by a habitual offender under the influence of alcohol.

The man behind the panic, identified as Suraj Jadhav, was traced and arrested from the Borivali area. Officials confirmed that Jadhav has a troubling history of making similar prank calls and had previously triggered false alarms across several police jurisdictions.

According to authorities, Jadhav is no stranger to legal action. He already faces multiple charges under IPC sections 323 and 324 and has been booked for repeated hoax calls, bomb threats, and disruptive complaints involving loudspeakers and firecrackers. In all such cases, his allegations were proven baseless.

The Mumbai Police have condemned the incident, especially in light of the heightened sensitivity surrounding public safety. A senior official stated that such reckless behavior will not be taken lightly, and strict legal action is being pursued.

This latest episode has reignited conversations about the need for stricter penalties for serial hoax callers and the potential misuse of emergency services, which divert attention from real threats.
