Panaji, Apr 20: In a grim tale of family discord turning fatal, Goa Police have arrested a 64-year-old man, his elder son, and an associate for the alleged murder of his younger son in Sattari taluka.

Speaking to media on Sunday, North Goa Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal identified the accused as Devidas Barve (64), his son Uday Barve (34), and Vasudev Ozarekar (43). The victim has been identified as Shravan Barve (24), Devidas’ younger son.

Shravan was discovered dead on April 15 at his farmhouse in Ambede village. “He died due to manual compression on the neck, which points to strangulation,” SP Kaushal said. “Following an investigation, we arrested Ozarekar on Friday, and the father-son duo on Saturday.”

According to police, Ozarekar confessed that Devidas approached him on April 13 with a plan to murder Shravan. While the exact motive is still under investigation, officials confirmed that Shravan had been living separately at the Ambede farmhouse, while the rest of the Barve family resided in Honda village.

“There was a clearly strained relationship between Shravan and his family. Devidas had even lodged five separate complaints against him at Valpoi police station in the past,” Kaushal added.

The case has stunned the local community, especially given the deeply disturbing nature of a father and brother allegedly conspiring to kill their own blood. Police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway, and further revelations are expected soon.
