Bidar, Apr 20: Minister for Forest, Biology and Environment and district in-charge Eshwar B Khandre has assured a free engineering seat at Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology (BKEIT), Bhalki for student Suchivrat Kulkarni, who was denied entry to the KCET Mathematics exam for refusing to remove his sacred thread (janivara).
On Sunday morning, Minister Khandre, accompanied by minister Rahim Khan, visited Suchivrat’s residence to express solidarity with the student and his family. He consoled the family and termed the incident as unfortunate, stating that the lapse was caused by private college staff and must not be repeated.

“This should never have happened. Upon learning about it, I directed the district administration to conduct a probe and submit a report within 24 hours. Action has already been taken against those responsible,” he said.
Highlighting that a student's future must not be jeopardised over such incidents, Khandre said the student would be given a free seat at BKEIT, Bhalki.
He further informed that discussions are underway with the higher education minister to explore the possibility of allowing a separate exam for Suchivrat. The student will also be eligible to appear for the COMED-K exam, and even if he secures a seat there, the government will extend full support, he said.
“The government stands with the student and his family,” Khandre added.
