Canacona, Apr 22: Panic gripped the Canacona bus stand on Monday morning after the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Canacona received an anonymous email threatening a bomb explosion. However, following a four-hour search operation, authorities confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

The email, received at 10:30am, claimed that an explosive device had been planted at the bus stand. Responding swiftly, local police along with the bomb disposal squad cordoned off the area and launched a thorough investigation. The search operation concluded by 2:30pm, with no suspicious objects found.

Superintendent of Police (South), Tikam Singh Verma, confirmed that the bomb threat was unfounded. “The source of the email is being investigated,” he said.

Normalcy was restored after the search, but police continue to treat the incident with seriousness as the hunt is on to trace the origin of the email and those behind the false alarm.
