Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 22: Kerala women outpaced their male counterparts in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services examination 2024 results, with five women securing spots in the top 100 ranks. Among them, Alfred Thomas from Kerala secured the highest rank, coming in at 33rd. The remaining five women include Malavika G. Nair (45th), G P Nandana (47th), Sonnet Jose (54th), Reenu Anna Mathew (81st), and Devika Priyadarshini (95th).
Malavika Nair, for whom this was a last attempt, expressed her gratitude to God, saying, "I always wanted to work in government service and am currently serving as a Deputy Commissioner in the IRS.

It was the inspiration from my seniors that finally helped me achieve this." Nandana, who failed to clear the prelims in her first attempt, said, "My teachers were confident, and this time I made it. IAS is my first choice, and I am hopeful of securing it." Reenu Anna Mathew, who made it in her fourth attempt, shared, "My parents couldn't believe me when I first told them, but now we are all excited and happy."
A total of 1,009 candidates have been recommended for appointment across various services, including IAS, IPS, IRS, and other Group-A services. Of the successful candidates, 335 belong to the General category, 109 to EWS, 318 to OBC, 160 to SC, and 87 to ST.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination was held in June 2024, with 9,92,599 applicants, and 5,83,213 candidates appearing for the exam. A total of 14,627 candidates qualified for the Mains Examination in September 2024, and 2,845 candidates were shortlisted for the Personality Test.
The final list was topped by Shakti Dubey, securing the first rank, followed by Harshita Goyal in second place, and Dongre Archit Parag in third.
