Mangaluru, Apr 23: Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil (a unit of A Shama Rao Foundation) hosted a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony in collaboration with Dakshina Kannada Nirmiti Kendra on April 23, at the college seminar hall.
The objective of this MoU is to strengthen collaboration in skill development and innovative construction technologies, thereby offering both theoretical and practical knowledge to students.

The event was presided over by Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University and president of A Shama Rao Foundation. Addressing the gathering, he stated, “This MoU serves as an asset for both the college and its students. It will encourage students to think innovatively and come up with creative ideas that will help them stand out wherever they go.”
Mullai Muhilan M P, IAS, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, was the chief guest of the occasion. Highlighting the importance of academic and industrial collaboration, he said, “The student technology team captured moments from the old DC office and gave it a new life. That initiative has now evolved into this MoU. The buildings you design should reflect your imagination so much so that people should ask, ‘Who designed this?’ Your creations must become your identity and stand as permanent testaments to your creativity.”
Rajendra Kalbavi, project director of Dakshina Kannada Nirmiti Kendra, remarked, “A bond that began with a small training programme has now matured into a formal MoU. Students should not only aspire to become architects but also consider aiming for higher administrative roles like the IAS, through which they can serve society even more meaningfully.”
Dr A Srinivas Rao, pro-chancellor, Srinivas University, also shared his thoughts, saying, “It is a matter of pride that Srinivas University is partnering with the district administration through this MoU. We have many students with fresh ideas, and we hope these ideas will benefit society. Just as China is known for its architectural tourism, we aim to develop Mangaluru into a tourist hub through architectural excellence, with the support of the district administration.”
