Mumbai, Apr 24: In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, AIMIM national spokesperson Waris Pathan condemned the massacre of 26 tourists as an “act of sheer brutality” and called for all political parties to unite against terrorism. He insisted that mere statements are insufficient, urging the government to deliver “a punishment so severe it shakes their masters.”
Pathan slammed security lapses in Kashmir, noting that with over 2,000 visitors in Baisaran Meadow, the absence of timely military or check point intervention may have cost lives. He pointed to reports of a reduction of 150,000 troops in the region and demanded accountability for intelligence failures and delayed emergency response.
While endorsing India’s diplomatic measures—suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari ICP, and cutting Pakistani diplomatic staff—Pathan argued that ties with any state backing cross border terror should be entirely severed. He applauded PM Modi’s swift return from Saudi Arabia and emergency Cabinet meeting but urged a direct national address to reinforce public confidence.
Emphasizing that terrorism knows no faith, Pathan highlighted Muslim rescuers like Syed Adil?Hussain, who died protecting fellow tourists, as proof that communal politics have no place in the response. “Now is the time for action, not words,” he declared, demanding a coordinated, country wide crackdown to “destroy terrorism at its roots.”
