New Delhi, Apr 25: Sri Lankan president Anura Dissanayake on Friday expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the tragic Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 innocent lives. Dissanayake conveyed Sri Lanka’s solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism, posting on X, "Deeply shocked by the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 innocent lives. Just spoke with PM Narendra Modi to convey Sri Lanka's solidarity and our shared commitment against terrorism. Our hearts go out to the victims' families."
Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof also extended their support to India following the deadly attack. The British PM expressed horror at the loss of lives, sending condolences on behalf of the British people, while the Dutch PM strongly condemned the cowardly act and affirmed the Netherlands' commitment to stand with India in the fight against terrorism.

Leaders from across the globe, including French president Emmanuel Macron, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, had also dialed PM Modi on Thursday to condemn the horrific attack, which unfolded in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley. The assault, carried out by four heavily armed terrorists two of whom were from Pakistan left more than a dozen tourists dead and several others critically injured.
Intelligence reports suggest the attack was orchestrated by Pakistan-based terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba. In retaliation, India has taken strong diplomatic and strategic actions, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and expelling Pakistani military attaches.
