Noida, Apr 26: In a major move to bolster security, Noida International Airport (Jewar) and its surrounding areas have been declared a ‘Red Zone’ under a joint directive from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and national security agencies. As a result, flying drones or any type of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in the area is now strictly prohibited.
Officials emphasized that unauthorized drone activity will be considered a serious offense under the Airports Authority of India Act, 1934, and the prevailing UAV operation regulations. Violators will face strict legal action.
Speaking on the development, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Manish Mishra said, “Noida International Airport is a strategically vital infrastructure project, and ensuring its security is a top priority. The area was officially designated as a Red Zone by the DGCA and security agencies on October 8, 2024.”

He added, “The misuse of drones poses serious security risks. Citizens are urged to strictly adhere to the rules and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. We will not hesitate to act firmly against violators.”
With Noida International Airport poised to become one of the country’s major aviation hubs, safeguarding the facility has become a matter of national importance. In support of the new restrictions, security agencies, along with the local administration, have ramped up surveillance efforts, deploying CCTV cameras and other advanced monitoring systems across the area.
The airport management has appealed to the public for full cooperation, stressing that compliance with the regulations is crucial to ensuring the safety of the airport and the broader airspace.
Authorities have also requested that citizens promptly alert law enforcement if they observe any suspicious drone activity.
Following this directive, drone operations around Noida International Airport are now completely banned, with stringent enforcement measures in place.
