Bengaluru, May 3: Minister for Housing and Waqf B Z Zameer Ahmad Khan has triggered a storm on social media after a video surfaced in which he declares his willingness to become a suicide bomber for India in a hypothetical war against Pakistan.
The fiery statement, made during a media interaction, went viral on Saturday, drawing both praise and controversy.
In the video clip that has now gained widespread traction online, minister Zameer asserts, “I have said this repeatedly: We are Indians, we are Hindustanis. We have no connection whatsoever with Pakistan. I repeat, we have no relationship with Pakistan. I am ready to wage war if needed. Even as a minister, if I am sent to the battlefield, I am prepared to go and fight against Pakistan.”

Emphasising his patriotism, he further stated, “I will personally go to the battlefield to fight for India. Let all of us do it for our country. If necessary, I will become a suicide bomber for India. I am not saying this lightly or out of emotion. If the country requires it, I am ready to sacrifice myself as a suicide bomber.”
In a direct appeal to national leadership, he added: “Let Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah give me the opportunity to become a suicide bomber. I swear by Allah — I will have explosives wrapped around my body and I will go to Pakistan.”
The video has been widely shared across social media platforms, with supporters hailing the minister's fervent nationalism, while others have questioned the appropriateness of such extreme rhetoric from a sitting cabinet member.
Minister Zameer, a longtime confidant of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, currently represents the Chamarajpet constituency in Bengaluru. He rose to prominence in Karnataka state politics with the backing of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, before eventually switching from JD(S) to the Congress party.
His provocative remarks follow recent criticism aimed at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had earlier made a controversial statement urging restraint against engaging in war with Pakistan. That remark attracted nationwide backlash and was reportedly highlighted by sections of the Pakistani media.
In response to the outrage, Siddaramaiah later clarified his stance, stating that he has no objection to waging war against Pakistan if the situation demands it.
Minister Zameer’s bold statement has added a new twist to the ongoing political discourse on nationalism, defence, and the tone of public rhetoric from elected representatives.
