New Delhi, May 7: In a decisive counter-terror response, India on Wednesday launched Operation Sindoor, targeting and destroying nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force using precision-guided munitions. Among the most significant hits was the Markaz Subhan Allah, a key JeM base that served as both a headquarters and training facility. Morning visuals showed the structure in ruins, with large sections of the roof collapsed and debris scattered across the site.

"This action reaffirms our commitment to hold those responsible accountable," said the Army, which also posted “Justice is Served. Jai Hind.” on its official X handle.
This strike follows the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 26 civilians dead, including one Nepali national. JeM and affiliated groups are believed to be responsible.
Officials confirmed that the airstrikes were carefully executed to avoid civilian and non-terror military infrastructure. The targets included training camps and logistics hubs used by groups operating from within Pakistan.
The operation was closely monitored overnight by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and top defence officials. Sources said the Prime Minister remained in continuous contact with military leadership throughout the mission.
The destruction of the JeM hub in Bahawalpur — located over 160 km inside Pakistan — is being seen as a clear message against continued cross-border terrorism and a severe blow to JeM’s operational capacity.
Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed the Indian strikes, stating that missiles were fired at locations in Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad amid rising tensions between the two nations.
A detailed briefing on the operation is expected later in the day.
