Hubballi, May 13: In a shocking incident that has left even the police stunned, a 13-year-old Class 6 student fatally stabbed his 15-year-old friend, a Class 9 student, in Hubballi's Gurusiddeshwar Nagar on May 12 evening.

The victim, Chetan Rakkasagi, was reportedly attacked outside the accused boy’s house. The two boys were close friends and lived opposite each other. According to sources, the younger boy brought a knife from his home and stabbed Chetan in the left side of his abdomen during a quarrel.

The stabbing occurred around 7 pm on May 12 while the boys were playing with a group of friends, pretending to run a make-believe shop. A minor disagreement broke out between the two, following which the Class 6 boy went home, brought a knife, and stabbed Chetan.

Hearing the commotion, the accused boy’s mother rushed to the spot and attempted to help Chetan. She immediately took him to KIMS Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

Chetan had just passed Class 9, and the accused had recently passed Class 6. The two were said to be inseparable—playing together every day and even sharing meals.

The mother of the accused, in tears, expressed disbelief and regret over her son’s actions, saying Chetan was a good boy and the two were best friends. The incident has shocked the Hubballi police. City police commissioner N Shashikumar visited the hospital, conducted an inquiry, and consoled the bereaved family.

“This is the first time in our service that such a young child has committed a murder over a petty quarrel. Parents must be vigilant about their children’s behavior,” the commissioner said in a statement.

A case has been registered at the Kamaripet police station. The accused has been sent to a juvenile home pending further legal proceedings. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the growing concerns around aggression and lack of conflict resolution among children.

Bring more movies where killing is normalized. If the movies show someone who is killing as a hero we should know how it will affect the minds of the kids? and this is normal in every movies now. though the heroes were killing the villains in old movies but the way they are presented in the recent movies is different.

Terrifying news, sad that a young life has just gone. Such horrific act can only be an influence from social media, lot of TV or other electronic media. Our children at times watch these unwanted serials which could have negative impact on their young innocent minds. May God Bless the young soul. More importantly May the parents of the deceased child find strength and courage to face this untimely loss.
