Mumbai, May 15: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has appealed to people across the state and country to witness the upcoming historical epic ‘Kesari Veer’ in theatres, calling it “not just a film, but a stirring chapter of India’s glorious past.”
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai on Wednesday, the Chief Minister expressed admiration for the film’s subject and presentation. “Kesari Veer is more than cinema — it is a reflection of India’s valour. The battle of Somnath in the 14th century, where Veer Hamirji Gohil courageously led the charge to protect the sacred Somnath temple, deserves to be etched in our collective memory,” said Fadnavis.

He further revealed that he had personally viewed the teaser, and found it “visually compelling and emotionally powerful.” The Chief Minister emphasized the need for historical awareness among youth, urging families and students to “watch this tribute to our brave ancestors” in theatres.
Kesari Veer, an epic war saga steeped in Dharma and patriotism, features an ensemble cast with Suniel Shetty portraying the fierce warrior Vegda Ji, and Sooraj Pancholi in the pivotal role of Veer Hamirji Gohil, the unsung hero of the Somnath resistance.
Akanksha Sharma plays Rajal, a valiant female warrior who fights for her people and faith. The antagonist Zafar, portrayed by Vivek Oberoi, leads an invasion aimed at forced religious conversions — setting the stage for a clash of ideologies and a gripping tale of resistance.
Directed by Prince Dhiman and produced under the Chauhan Studios banner by Kanu Chauhan, the film promises to deliver high-octane action, raw emotion, and a deep cultural connect. With support from Panorama Studios, the movie is slated for a worldwide release on May 23.
Set against the backdrop of medieval India, Kesari Veer narrates a tale that blends valor, sacrifice, and national pride, with the filmmakers aiming to introduce forgotten heroes of Indian history to a global audience.
As the anticipation builds, Fadnavis’ endorsement is likely to drive interest among history enthusiasts and patriots alike, with many now eagerly awaiting the film’s theatrical release.
