Udupi Journalists’ Association, medical fraternity unveil directional signboard at Brahmagiri

Udupi, May 15: Under the aegis of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, and sponsored by Udupi Panchami Trust and Gandhi Hospital, the unveiling ceremony of a newly installed directional signboard at Brahmagiri Nayarkere took place on Thursday May 15.

The signboard was unveiled by M Harishchandra, administrative director of Gandhi Hospital, Udupi. Speaking at the subsequent gathering, he remarked that journalists are always at the forefront in every situation and that it is essential for them to undergo regular health check-ups. He also emphasized the importance of providing first-aid training to journalists. He assured that their institution would extend all necessary support in this regard.

On the occasion, a donation cheque of Rs 55,555, contributed by Gandhi Hospital to the Indian Army, was handed over to the Udupi district administration through district information officer Manjunath.

The event was graced by several dignitaries including Dr Vyasaraj Tantry, medical director of Gandhi Hospital; Dr Suresh Shenoy, president of Indian Medical Association Udupi Karavali ; Rajesh Shetty Alevoor, president of Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association; and Dr Vasudev Upadhya, Udupi Taluk health officer.

Nazeer Polya, general secretary of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, proposed the vote of thanks. Journalist Janardhan Kodavoor welcomed the gathering and compered the event.

The directional signboard provides guidance to key locations including the headquarters of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, the Udupi Press Club, the IMA Building, and the Udupi taluk health officer’s office.
