New Delhi, May 17: Home minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the newly upgraded Multi-Agency Centre (MAC), India’s premier intelligence fusion hub, at North Block. Calling ‘Operation Sindoor’ a unique success born from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s firm political will, precise intelligence inputs, and the flawless strike capability of the three-armed forces, Shah praised the nation’s security apparatus including the BSF and all agencies involved.

Shah highlighted that the revamped MAC provides a seamless platform integrating intelligence, security, law enforcement, and investigative agencies to address complex national security challenges like terrorism, extremism, organized crime, and cyber threats.

He cited the recent 21-day anti-Naxal operation in the Karreguttalu Hills along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border as an example of excellent coordination between intelligence agencies and armed forces.

The upgraded MAC features advanced hardware and software, incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning to maximize data analytics using extensive databases and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools.

Looking ahead, Shah emphasized the need to unify disparate databases across central agencies into a single platform to enhance trend analysis, hotspot mapping, and predictive intelligence, significantly strengthening efforts against terror networks linked to organized crime.

Set up in 2001 and housed under the Intelligence Bureau, the MAC’s transformation cost over Rs 500 crore and now extends secure, high-speed connectivity even to island territories, insurgency-hit zones, and remote districts, ensuring last-mile reach in India’s diverse terrains.
