Mumbai on alert after threatening call turns out to be hoax

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, May 19: Mumbai experienced a wave of panic late Sunday following a threatening call to the emergency number Dial 112. The caller, who gave the name Rajiv Singh, claimed that “Mumbai will be destroyed with bombs” and warned that suspicious individuals had already infiltrated the city.

He alleged overhearing a conversation near JJ Marg about a planned bombing and the involvement of certain people in the plot. This alarming message triggered an immediate response from security agencies, who launched precautionary measures to investigate the threat.

However, after a swift preliminary probe, authorities confirmed that the call was a hoax. A case has been registered against Rajiv Singh for spreading false information and inciting public fear. Police have begun further legal proceedings against him under applicable laws.
