Mangaluru, May 19: The Mangaluru City Police has suspended two officers for serious lapses in the investigation of a criminal case involving fraudulent overseas job recruitment.
Inspector Somasekhar G C of Mangaluru East police station has been placed under suspension for failing to initiate timely and appropriate legal action against M/s Hireglow Elegant Overseas International Pvt Ltd, despite receiving prior complaints and directions. His inaction and lack of supervisory responsibility allegedly enabled the accused to continue defrauding job aspirants of more than Rs 1.82 crore.

PSI Umesh Kumar M N, currently serving at Barke police station and previously the investigating officer in Crime No. 235/2024 at Mangaluru East station, has also been suspended. He is accused of multiple lapses in the probe, including failure to arrest the accused, gather key evidence, examine victims and witnesses, and follow up on financial leads—actions that severely compromised the investigation.
The department has initiated disciplinary proceedings against both officers, citing negligence, irresponsibility, and breach of duty.
