Kaup, May 20: In a move to reduce traffic congestion near Katpady Junction on National Highway 66, an overpass has been approved and the tender process has been completed. On May 19, 2025, MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty and MP Kota Srinivas Poojary visited the Katpady Junction to inspect the site and held discussions with officials from the National Highways Department.
With ongoing infrastructure projects such as the overpass near Kalyanapura Santhekatte and the underpass at Ambalpadi Junction already in progress in Udupi, and considering the upcoming monsoon season, the leaders announced that the construction of the Katpadi overpass is scheduled to begin in October this year.





Present at the occasion were Katpady gram panchayat President Prabha Shetty, Vice President Suguna Poojarti, former Zilla Panchayat members Geetanjali Suvarna and Shilpa G. Suvarna, National Highways officials Mallikarjun and Naveen, Katpadi Panchayat Development Officer Inayat, as well as members and former members of the Katpadi Gram Panchayat and local residents.
