Bengaluru, May 20: A fresh wave of Covid-19 appears to be emerging, with 257 cases detected across India, including 8 in Karnataka.
The virus is once again spreading in parts of Asia, with new surges reported in Singapore and Hong Kong. Now, similar cases are being identified in India. The newly detected variants, LF.7 and NB.1.8, are sub-lineages of the JN.1 variant of the coronavirus.

So far, India has recorded 257 cases, with Karnataka reporting 8 of them. However, health authorities have confirmed that none of the cases have shown severe symptoms. As such, there is no cause for panic at present. Still, the Health Department has issued advisories across the state urging caution and vigilance.
Singapore and Hong Kong have already issued public alerts as case numbers there continue to rise. According to Singapore’s Ministry of Health, 14,200 new infections were recorded between May 3 and May 16 alone.
While the situation remains under control in India for now, authorities have urged the public not to become complacent.
